Tell Legislators You Support Stream Restoration Bill

Here’s some information from TU’s Bull Moose Committee on the action we need from each of you to support the Stream Restoration Bill.

Big News!  Our priority Stream Restoration bill was introduced yesterday as SB23-270: Projects to Restore Natural Stream Systems.   .  Here is a link to the bill   https://leg.colorado.gov/bills/sb23-270 and an attached fact sheet from DNR.  Senator Cleave Simpson (R)  and Sen Dylan Roberts (D) are bill sponsors, so that’s great news, and Rep Karen McCormack (D)  is the bill sponsor in the House.

The Bill is assigned to the Senate Agriculture and Natural Resource Committee, with an expected hearing on Thursday.  Link here to member list for the Ag Committee:  https://leg.colorado.gov/committees/agriculture-natural-resources/2023-regular-session

The success of this important bill is dependent on it making it through the Senate Ag committee, so we want to make sure all of the Senators on the committee hear from us asking for their support on the bill.  CTU is putting out an action alert tomorrow t specifically going to our members/supporters in the 7 Senate Districts represented on Senate Ag committee (1, 3, 6, 8, 13, 15, and 35).

If you are in those Senate Districts, you will receive an action alert tomorrow. Please respond to it as soon as possible and if possible, send an email to your chapter members letting them know this is an important bill for CTU and we would appreciate if they respond to the CTU action alert as well..  It’s a short time fuse.. with the hearing just a week away.

Finally, we are also doing “grass tops” advocacy, with several chapter leaders  reaching out directly to Sen Simpson thanking him for his sponsorship.

Thanks, Barb Sheedlo
