Windy Gap Legal Win!

The Windy Gap Firming Project will improve and reconnect a portion of the Colorado below Granby and it just won what looks like final approval. A lawsuit seeking to stop the project was rejected by Federal Court on December 14. This is yet another example of the benefits of environmental activists, including our TU Headwaters Chapter, working with national TU and Colorado TU have moved these projects forward. We work cooperatively with diverters rather than pursuing unending lawsuits which are destined to fail. At TU, we’d love to have all the water that’s diverted from our rivers stay here, but we understand that lawsuits attempting to claw back water rights that were sold a hundred years ago and would dry up the Front Range are simply a dream.
