July 1 2020 State Wildlife Area Rules Change

Effective July 1 EVERYONE using state of Colorado Wildlife areas is required to have a Colorado hunting or fishing license, even if you’re not hunting or fishing. Hunting and fishing licenses generate the funding that makes those areas possible and provides the funds to maintain them properly.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife manages more than 350 State Wildlife Areas and about 240 State Trust Lands. As our population has grown and in these challenging areas of covid-19, these areas are being used for purposes they were never intended. Illegal camping and other activities that disturb and displace wildlife have become a serious problem.
