A Unique Western Slope/Eastern Slope Colorado Water Partnership

Kaibab Park Stream Improvement Project Complete!

We are thrilled to share that construction on the Kaibab Park Stream Improvement Project is officially complete! Located on the Fraser River in the Town of Granby, the project transformed a relatively wide, shallow reach with limited habitat diversity by creating new pools and bars, installing large wood structures and habitat boulders, enhancing riffles, and establishing willows and other riparian vegetation. Together, these improvements are designed to create a more diverse and dynamic river channel with better habitat for aquatic insects and fish, including deeper pools, overhead cover, pocket water, and improved riffle habitat. We extend a huge thank you to Stillwater Sciences for designing the project, FlyWater for bringing that design to life through construction, and the Town of Granby for its support throughout the project. After years of planning, permitting, fundraising, and collaboration, it is incredibly rewarding to see this project completed on the ground—and to see another stretch of the Fraser River improved through the power of partnership.
